Sony Ericsson postpones Yendo

Sony Ericsson has postponed the Yendo, because the company isn't satisfied with the software of the handset. The phone was originally planned for Q3 of this year, but is sent back to the developers team now.

"User experience is a central issue for us. We found it not at the level we'd like it to see" says Sony Ericssons Harold de Kort. The software team now has some extra time to develop a handset that meets the standards of the brand. The postponement is worldwide. The Yendo now is planned for February.

Not available

This week, multiple webshops changed the status of the Yendo to "not available". According to De Kort, retailers are sorry for the fact that the phone is delayed, but applaud the postponement. A manufacturer facing technical problems is not a unique event. Sony Ericsson before had some issues with the Satio. Phones sales were stopped temporarily when these issues kept growing. Therefore, it is a good step that Sony Ericsson stops the problems before they come to consumers stores worldwide.

The Yendo will be Sony Ericssons first 'Full Touch' Walkman phone. The handset resembles the X10 mini, with an extra Walkman logo. Unlike the X10 mini, the Yendo does not run Android, but has its own operating system.
