Samsung makes Galaxy Z TriFold official; 10-inch screen in your pocket
After a long wait, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Z TriFold. The three-part device can be folded into a 10-inch tablet. When folded, it is not much bigger than the current Fold 7, but the similarities do not end there.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is a new foldable in Samsung's lineup. We already had a clamshell that you can fold vertically; the Flip series. Then there was the foldables that you could open as a book, the Fold, and now a third category has been added. Although Samsung did look very much at the current Z Fold 7.
.Thus, the TriFold features the same cover screen, which is 6.5 inches in size and has the same resolution. Opening it in two steps after which you get a 10-inch screen at your disposal. Interestingly, it has a lower resolution than the Fold 7, despite being quite larger.

Same cameras and processor as Fold 7
The cameras are also identical to those on the Samsung Fold 7 with a 200MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide angle and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Inside is a 10MP selfie camera with outside a also 10MP large one but with a wider viewing angle. Inside is also the same processor; the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy.

Samsung did, however, see fit to include a larger 5600 mAh battery. Handsome because unfolded the device measures only 3.9 millimeters thick. Also clever is that the battery is quick to charge at 45W. That's faster than the Fold.

Samsung claims to have applied the most advanced hinges ever. These titanium hinges are supposed to feel smoother and at the same time more stable without leaving any significant space between the screen parts. The rest of the casing is Advanced Armor Aluminum.
Standalone DeX
Whereas with the first foldables we did not see much added value in a larger screen, simply because the apps did not scale well, that is not the case with the TriFold. Google has made a lot of progress with Android so that apps, including existing ones, take full advantage of the larger screen.

The larger screen canvas also offers new opportunities for multitasking. Display multiple apps simultaneously on screen or show them as a layer on top of another. Samsung is also releasing a standalone version of DeX for the occasion. With a simple tap in the menu, you turn your phone into a workstation. You can create up to four different "workspaces.
Think of this as different desktops on your computer. On each desktop, you can have five apps open at the same time. For example, you can work on a presentation in one room, and with one swipe, move to another room to app with friends or shop online.
