LG launches Optimus 2X


Lg officially presented the Optimus 2X. It makes the Korean firm the first to come with a dualcore smartphone. The phone will hit the market in Asia and Europe. The Optimus 2X runs Android 2.2 Froyo.

With the Optimus 2X, LG takes big steps towards the top of the smartphonemarket. The company thinks the handset will come to stores as soon as January. In videos that appeared on the internet, the smartphone shows impressive performance. If the phone is well-built as well, the Optimus 2X may eventually become a popular handset. That would be good news for consumers, who will see a new battle for the quickest smartphone, which is only to their benefit.

Specifications

The Optimus 2X has a 1 Ghz dualcore processor, the Nvidia Tegra 2. The handset has a 4 inch LCD screen. Its 8 GB internal memory is a little low for the current standards, yet it can be extended by using a microSD memory card. The phone has two cameras: one on the backside. It has a 8 megapixel resolution, which can record video in Full HD (1080p). The other camera is a VGA camera to be used for videocalling. Playback of recorded videos is possible via HDMI. LG also promised an upgrade for the operating system. Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be available for Optimus 2X after the release of the handset.
