Fairphone 2 product details
The Fairphone 2 is one of the few, perhaps the only ethical phone you can buy today. In every phone you will find metals that are sometimes not always mined cleanly. Workers are exploited and sometimes child labor is used. You can buy the Fairphone 2 with confidence, as it does not consist of so-called "conflict materials."
Work and private
Fairphone uses Android with the Fairphone 2, namely version 5.1. This gives you access to numerous popular apps and games that you can simply download and install in the Play Store. Handy is also that you can put two SIM cards in the device. For example, you can use your work and private SIM card simultaneously. That saves an extra phone, which is also good for the environment. The Fairphone 2 comes standard with 64 GB of storage memory, which is large enough not to have to buy a memory card right away. Something you can do, by the way.

Some downsides
The modular nature of the Fairphone 2 does make it a bit large, especially compared to other 5-inch phones. It is also a bit thicker at 11 millimeters. For ultra compact phones, you better look further afield. Another downside is the camera, especially the selfie camera. While Fairphone does apply a Sony sensor, it is a bit on the low side at 2 megapixels. However, the biggest complaint about the selfie camera is the lens, which has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 which makes it unsuitable for taking selfies in the dark. If you really care about that then we recommend you look further. Also, the Fairphone 2 has a relatively high price. An ethical phone has its price.
