Motorola edge+ product details

The Motorola edge+ is the top model of the new edge series for 2020. This edge plus has the most extensive specifications, the most attractive features and is made of the most premium materials. But does that make it a good phone? Time to find out.

Better materials, but not waterproof

Motorola announced the edge+ in early 2020 together with the slightly simpler edge. They are part of a new series of premium flagships. This edge+ is the crowning glory. It is equipped with the most extensive processor, the largest camera sensor, the thickest battery and the most premium materials. If the back of the edge is still made of plastic, here you will only find glass. Gorilla Glass 5 for sure. It's both drop-proof and scratch-resistant. The only thing the casing isn't is completely waterproof. It does have a coating that repels water, but it really isn't the same.

Picture, sound, action

The biggest eye-catcher of the edge+ is the screen. Because it runs over the edges it looks a bit like a waterfall. Motorola calls it an Endless Edge display. It is an OLED panel with high contrast, fast 90Hz refresh and colorful HDR10 display. The screen also contains the fingerprint scanner. With a diagonal of 6.7 inches, it's the same size as the edge, so the difference between the two is not in the size. Both above and below the screen are speakers for stereo sound tuned by Waves. Inside is a Snapdragon 865 processor; the most powerful thing manufacturer Qualcomm had at the time of release.

Main Motorola edge+ specifications

  • Immersive Edge Display of 6.7 inch, 90Hz and HDR10+
  • 108+16+8MP camera with ultra-wide-angle, 3x zoom and OIS
  • Selfie 25MP camera with f/2.0 lens
  • Full glass Gorilla Glass 5 housing with water-repellent coating
  • Powerful Snapdragon 865 processor + 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM memory
  • 256GB of fast UFS 3.0 storage memory
  • 5000 mAh battery with 18W wired fast charging and wireless charging
  • Broad 5G support for lightning-fast internet on the go

Camera is a lot better

Also inside is a 5000 mAh battery. That's just a little bit more than in the edge. Charging can be done with up to 18W (Turbo Power) and can also be done wirelessly with up to 15W. Giving away power wirelessly, for example to your wireless earplugs, can be done with up to 5W. Another advantage of the edge+ is its camera. The largest sensor measures an impressive 108MP. Just like the slightly smaller edge, there is a 16MP ultra-wide-angle and an 8MP telephoto with which you can zoom in 3x this time. Much more important; the main and telephoto lenses have optical image stabilization (OIS). With this you shoot a sharp picture much more often. On camera level, this edge+ scores better than the edge. The selfie camera seems to be the same 25MP with f/2.0 lens and neatly tucked away in a punch-hole.

Pro and cons Motorola edge+

  • Screen is an eye-catcher
  • Large battery + wireless charging
  • Premium body
  • 5G support
  • A bit pricey & not completely waterproof
