Google makes printing from your phone easier

With Google Cloud Print, you can quickly print documents from your smartphone. The service is available for many platforms, including iOS and Android. You'll also need a computer running Microsoft Windows.

Google has ambitious plans with the service. The search company hopes that printer manufacturers will integrate the service in their devices, making it possible to print without the intervention of a computer, wherever you are. You'll be able to print a document while travelling on a printer at home. If you know how to tweak around with software and technique, you'd already be able to get this done, but Google Cloud Print makes it a lot easier.

The Cloud Print server is integrated in the 9th version of Google Chrome, that only runs on Windows for now. We expect the Mac OS and Linux version of the browser to get the new options soon. Printing in the cloud is only possible from HTML 5 enabled browsers. The service has been rolled out to the mobile website for Gmail and Google Docs. Among other, iOS and Android offer an HTML5-enabled browsers. We expect the mobile website only restriction to be removed soon. If Cloud Print succeeds to grow up, it'll become a great option for smartphone owners.
