MWC on Monday

After yesterday's silly Sunday, we saw less news of new handsets today. Of the major brands, only Samsung announced a new phone, the midrange Bada 2.0 handset Wave 578. Anyhow, there was other interesting news.

Most compelling, in our opinion, was Steve Ballmers visit to Barcelona. The CEO of Microsoft didn't come with empty hands. He promised an update for Windows Phone 7 in March, which will bring multitasking and better twitter integration to the platform. The browser will be updated as well. Internet Explorer gets version number 9, and now supports HTML5.

News from Qualcomm and Motorola

Qualcomm announced that it will come with a new generation Snapdragon processors. In the battle with Nvidia, the company could better bring something good. Motorola said that it would bring the Droid Pro to Europe as Pro. The hardware stays unchanged.

Other news, that didn't come at the MWC, but was one of the talks of the day in Barcelona, was the rumour that Apple would come with a smaller version of the iPhone, to meet the needs of consumers looking for a phone in the midrange.
