Sony Ericsson stops with Symbian for now


The Japanese/Finnish manufacturer Sony Ericsson stops developing phones that run the Symbian operating system for now. It leaves Nokia as the only large company in the mobile industry that believes in the future of Symbian.

Sony Ericsson doesn't end its membership of the Symbian Foundation, the organisation behinf Symbian. Nokia founded the organisation in2008 op. With the words of spokesman Aldo Liguori, Sony Ericsson said: "We have no plans for the time being to develop any new products to the Symbian Foundation standard or operating system"

Other operating systems

In contrast with Nokia, Sony Ericsson had brought phones running Android to the market. There are rumours as well that the company is working n a Windows Phone 7 telefoon. With the pause in developing Symbian phones, Sony Ericsson implicitly announces that that it sees a future with other operating systems. Meanwhile, the company can wait for the results of new Nokia's with Symbian, like the N8, af te wachten. The last Symbian handset made by Sony Ericsson is the Vivaz Pro.
