Samsung Galaxy XR headset, Project Moonhan, official on Oct. 21

Samsung's first Galaxy XR headset, better known by its project name Moohan, will be officially unveiled on Tuesday, October 21. Samsung announced this with a flashy video message.

We are all invited to follow the event via Samsung's YouTube channel. We know that Samsung has been working on its Vision Pro competitor for over a year. For this, Samsung is working with Google which is largely responsible for the software.

Project Moohan is the first product to use Google's Android XR platform. The event starts at 10PM Eastern Time, which means it will be 04:00 in the morning on Thursday, October 22 in the Netherlands. Usually Samsung takes Europeans into account with its product launches although Project Moohan is rumored to come out on a limited basis.

Collaboration between Samsung, Google and Qualcomm

The final product name is anyone's guess. Project Moohan was just the development name, perhaps the product will eventually be called Galaxy XR. In addition to cooperation from Google, Samsung also received help from Qualcomm. Inside the glasses is reportedly a new Snapdragon chip; the XR2+ Gen 2 announced in early 2024.
