Video comparison Samsung Omnia 7 and LG Optimus 7

Microsoft has some strict specification rules for those who want to build a Windows Phone 7 device. No wonder there is little difference between the first WP7 phones. Nevertheless, there are differences! We compared the Omnia 7 and the Optimus 7

But why talk when you can judge for yourself. Below you'll find a side-by-side video with on the left side the Samsung Omnia 7 and on right the LG Optimus 7. Both have a 5 megapixel camera, anti-shake on and are set to the highest quality.

As you can see the Samsung Omnia 7 delivers some brighter colours and has a slightly better image stabilization than the LG Optimus 7. On the other hand, the Optimus 7 seems to adjust better and faster when moving from dark to light rooms. It also produces warmer colours.

Different settings

It's good to see that both phones are equipped with image stabilisation, although the anti-shake function of the Samsung i8700 Omnia 7 works slightly better than the LG Optimus 7. On the other side, the Optimus 7 has some extra features the Omnia 7 has to do without. These are 'Intelligent Shot' and 'Beauty Shot'. According to LG the Intelligent Shot mode automatically adjusts shutter speed and aperture according to subject and brightness.

It's quite interesting that there are some differences in the camera settings, because we thought Microsoft dictates that Windows Phone 7 handsets are similar to one other. The LG shows a logo at the top of the screen, and also some functionalities are different. The difference might seem small, but can be big enough to actually buy one. For example, lacking a DLNA function on the Omnia 7 can be a dealbreaker.
