Samsung already shows future camera capabilities Galaxy S26 series
With the launch expected in a few weeks, Samsung is already showing off some of the camera features of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. In total, Samsung has released about three videos to explain them.
In the footage, Samsung emphasizes low-light video quality and impressive zoom performance. Each video closes with the silhouette of the new camera island on the back of the S26 and S26+. Below you can see the images.
A critical analysis of the footage reveals that Samsung has yet to reveal much. For example, in none of the videos is it clear what exactly is meant and the lack of numbers and claims makes it impossible to distinguish it from the S25 series.
Expected specifications S26 series
So we will have to fall back on previous rumors. Those talked about the same camera setup as last year: a 50MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultra-wide angle and a 10MP telephoto lens for 3x optical zoom. So any improvements must come from new sensors or optimized software. It remains to be seen which of the two it will be.

The S26 Ultra also gets no different hardware on paper: a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide-angle, 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and another 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Due to the high resolution of the main camera, combined with pixel-binning that combines the light input from multiple pixels, the sensor shoots extremely detailed images even in low light.
Video would potentially be stored in higher quality and more easily post-edited by supporting Advanced Professional Video (APV). With this, Samsung will compete with Apple's ProRes RAW video format.
Launch date Galaxy S26
Rumor consistently points to February 25, 2026 as a possible launch date. Samsung will hold a special Unpacked event for this as it did in previous years. According to reports, Samsung will also come out with new wireless earbuds then: the Galaxy Buds4 and 4 Pro.
