Jutta Leerdam: Why the Olympic champion does not choose the very latest iPhone
With 5 million followers on Instagram, 2.1 million on TikTok, and an Olympic gold medal, Jutta Leerdam is a winner. The world knows she can skate fast, but what phone does she use every day?
We know a lot about Jutta Leerdam and she also shares a lot with her followers. Finding out about her current device required some journalistic sleuthing. Fortunately, we were helped in this by her recent advertising campaign with Odido. In it, she is addressed by her father and we see images of a young Jutta.
No iPhone 17 Pro for the skating champion
And we briefly see her current mobile: an iPhone 16 Pro. Striking, because the newer iPhone 17 Pro has been out for a while. And with an estimated asset between 2.5 and 4.5 million euros, it would also be affordable for Jutta. But why replace something that still works well? Although we imagine she could appreciate the larger battery, sharper and square selfie camera and more powerful A19 chip of the 17 Pro.
Unmissable accessory for content creation
That the iPhone 16 Pro shown in the Odido campaign is actually her daily-driver is evidenced by some selfies she posted on social media. These show the same model, including the same case with the pink suction cup sticker. This Sticky allows her to attach the device to smooth surfaces for hands-free content creation.

By the way, this is not the first iPhone Jutta has used, before this we also often see her with a iPhone Pro model. So Jutta is quite obviously on team Apple in addition to TeamNL.
Samsung dominates the Olympic arena
Jutta and Odido entered into a partnership in October 2025. As a strategic partner, Odido is prominently visible on the skating suit and is the driving force behind the recent media campaigns surrounding Leerdam. A golden move by Odido now that Jutta has won gold in the 1000 meter speed skating.

Odido is certainly not alone in tapping into the success of the Olympics. Samsung is also prominent. For example, it is Samsung Galaxy phones that are doing a lot of recording of the Games and we see many athletes walking around with a Galaxy Z Flip 7 Olympic Edition. That's no coincidence: Samsung handed out 3800 copies of it. Regular consumers are missing out: the special Olympic Edition is not available in stores.
