Third Samsung Galaxy foldable coming in 2023, no more FE version

Samsung is reportedly preparing a third foldable to be released as late as 2023. The model would fold out in three parts, making it even more like a tablet than the Fold 5. The arrival of yet a third foldable also means the end of another model.

Samsung has been experimenting for some time with various designs for phones with flexible screens. Vertically foldable like the Flip 4 and horizontally like the Fold 4. Roll-up is also possible but Samsung does not seem to be going that route for a third model.

Tri-Fold Samsung

Because according to rumors by Yogesh Brar, Samsung is going for a foldable consisting of three parts. Whether you fold these together like a Z or instead fold the two outer parts inward is still unclear. With the first, part of the screen remains visible and exposed while with the second solution folded, it is always protected.

Samsung Display previously showed a prototype of a 7.1-inch model. Whether we are talking about the same model here will have to be seen when Samsung announces it. When that will be is unclear. Normally Samsung does not announce its foldable phones until the fall. So maybe instead of two, it will now be three.

No Galaxy Fan Edition

The arrival of another foldable most likely means the end of the Galaxy FE. The Galaxy S22 already did not come out with a Fan Edition and the same seems to happen with the Galaxy S23. This will then mark the end of the series that originated with the arrival of the Galaxy S20 FE.
