Foldable Google Pixel Fold shows off on video

A video has surfaced in which the Google Pixel Fold can be seen. This is the first time we see Google's foldable in action, and in the process, we also get the main specifications.

Rumors of the Pixel Fold are now well underway. Usually, this is a sign that an announcement is imminent. Google is holding its annual I/O event on May 10. This is traditionally where the next Android release is showcased, but new products are sometimes announced as well.

This year possible for the Pixel Fold and Google Pixel 7a. For the first time, a video has appeared showing the Pixel Fold. We already largely knew what it would look like thanks to published renders.

First generation foldable

It is clear from the video that Google's first foldable will not win any beauty awards. The inner screen looks somewhat "first generation" and reminiscent of the first Galaxy Fold. The screen has relatively thick bezels, especially at the top and bottom. There is even enough space to accommodate the selfie camera.

Although the device is briefly folded, we only glimpse the front shortly. There we see a single selfie camera at the top center of the screen. The edges are rounded and look slightly matte. Unfortunately, we don't get to see the back.

Pixel Fold specifications

A recent post from insider Yogesh Brar tells us that the Google Pixel Fold has the following specifications:

  • 7.6-inch AMOLED screen inside with QXGA+ resolution and 120Hz display
  • 5.8-inch AMOLED screen outside with HD+ resolution and 120Hz display
  • Google Tensor G2 processor with 12GB of RAM memory
  • Versions with 256 or 512GB of storage
  • 48MP main, 10.8MP wide angle and 10.8MP telephoto camera
  • 8MP selfie camera inside
  • 9.5MP selfie camera outside
  • Android 13
  • 4500 mAh battery with 23W fast charging

Whether all this justifies the suggested suggested suggested retail price of $1,799.99 remains to be seen. Unfortunately, Google is known for often launching products with teething problems, but if a product has a price tag this high, it cannot use any problems.
