Hands-on pictures show Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G

On August 5th Samsung will hold an Unpacked Event where the next Galaxy Fold will possibly be announced. It appears we already have a clear look on the upcoming device. All thanks to a hands-on photo.

We always welcome a real-life image but unfortunately this picture doesn't reveal that much. Thats because It is a bit dark. However, if we play a bit with the exposure this Galaxy Z Fold2 doesn't seem to have a notch. Samsung opted for a hole punch instead. That is something we welcome; the Galaxy Fold had a rather large screen notch.

The Galaxy Z Fold2 opened

This leaves more screen area for your content. Not that the screen on the Fold was small, not at all. The removal of the notch does mean the end of the double camera inside. We don't know if it was really used a lot. As far as other specifications are concerned, we have heard the following in the last few days.

  • 7.59 inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex with 120 Hz inside
  • 6.23 inch Super AMOLED outside
  • 64 + 12 + 12MP rear camera
  • Snapdragon 865+ with 5G
  • 4365 mAh battery with 25 Watt Fast Charge and 15 Watt wireless Qi charging

Ultra Thin Glass

Just like the Z Flip, Samsung is expected to use Ultra Thin Glass. This should be slightly more durable and feel more premium than the plastic screen of the original Fold. All details will be announced during the Unpacked Event on Tuesday 5 August. That starts 16:00 CET and can be followed live by anyone with an internet connection.
