Rumor: Samsung correctly scraps S26 Edge for Galaxy S26+

Galaxy S Edge: 2025-2025

After the introduction of the S25 Edge, we somewhat assumed that Samsung would replace the Galaxy S Plus model with an ultra-thin model. In other words, the S26+ would not be introduced in 2026, but the S26 Edge. This plan seems to have been scrapped according to some sources. But it gets even stranger.

Ultra-thin phones, we only got to enjoy them for a short time. Samsung seems to be throwing in the towel after only 1 generation and is simply reverting back to its tried-and-true formula of an entry-level S26, a larger Plus model and a flagship-grade Ultra. If this news is true then it means that the S26 Edge has been canceled.

Both Sammobile and Korean Newspim think so. The disappointing sales figures of the Edge are said to be the reason.

Disappointing sales

Now we took a quick look back in our system, but of the S25 Edge we sold 4 copies. Of the regular S25 100. Even of the S25+, whose sales figures have traditionally been disappointing, we saw 36 copies sold.

Now as a price comparator, we may not be comparing all sales channels, but it says something. Incidentally, we see the same ratio in sales numbers when we look at the iPhone 17 and Air, although they have not been available as long as the Galaxy S25 series.

Concerns about battery too small

The S25 Edge came out with a hefty starting price, but the biggest concern was the small battery. Samsung could have done something about that by switching to a Silicon-Carbon one, as Motorola does with the edge 70. Why they don't try that with the S26 Edge is beyond us.

Regardless, it looks like Samsung will release a Galaxy S series consisting of three models starting in 2026; the S26, S26+ and the S26 Ultra. The Edge's short existence is going to be missed. Though we wouldn't object if Samsung tried for another year. After all, quitting is for quitters.
