Both Korean companies have introduced a new device on the same platform Symbian v9.2 and Series 60 3rd Edition. For LG its the first ever and long awaited Symbian smartphone, for Samsung it is the fourth in a row. The specifications of the two new devices called LG JoY and Samsung i520 are quite familiar and show a distinctive set of specifications comparable to the newly introduced Nokia N95.

Both devices have HSDPA network support up to 3.6 mbps, video call, Bluetooth stereo audio support (A2DP), Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, 2.0 Mpixel camera without flash or auto focus, video camera with a resolution upto 352 x 288 pixels, MMS, SMS, VideoMMS, MicroSD memory card slot supporting memory cards up to 2 GB, 262.000 color TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, full XHTML browser and Mobile printing possibilities.

The slider form factor has been chosen by the Korean companies for the new devices and show another familiarity with the newly introduced N95. The main differences between all the devices are the looks and the size of the screen (LG screen is 2.4 inch, Samsung screen is 2.3 inch, Nokia screen is 2.6 inch).

The new Samsung i520 has touch panel keys on the front around the central joystick. Those keys have the same system as known from the Samsung E900. The new LG member has dedicated keys on the front and there are no touch panel keys simliar to the LG KG800.

The i520 supports the new Samsung Black UI, Google Search field on the main homescreen of the device and only 45 MB of internal memory. The new LG JoY, which will have name change in the future, has 70 MB of internal memory. Both support all standard Series 60 Third Edition possibilities as voice command, strong system stability, low power consumption and easy PC Suite connectivity.

The Korean devices will be the first main competitors to the wonderful Nokia N95 and will try to take some market share from the Finnish product. For more information on the new i520 visit the phone page of the device and for the LG JoY its dedicated phone page.
