LG KG800 Chocolate phone; can we eat it?

The new KG800 is for LG the main product the upcoming months. The device that was shown to NewMobile at a dutch event is the new eye-cather for the brand that wants to increase its European revenue.

The new KG800 is the device for LG this summer. The new slider has a touch-sensitive keypad under the screen, which means that there are no real keys but that you have to press the touch-sensitive indicators. The device will have a 1.3 Mpixel camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth, USB Mass storage, 128 MB of internal memory and a really slim and small design.

"It looks familiar"; was the first reaction we had! And that is correct. The new KG800 is a direct counterpart of the same device now available at the Asian market under the brandname Cyon, the korean mobile phone brand of LG. Cyon brought the device around November last year. Samsung will bring a similar device in June; the Samsung E900. Both will be around on the market in the summer.

Samsung's comment on the KG800: "We will bring the Samsung E900 in June after the KG800 introduction in May and will add some special extras into the box. Furthermore our device is equipped with a 2.0 Mpixel camera, Higher resolution screen, Memory card slot, SyncML, Picsel Viewer (viewer for Office and PDF files) and EDGE. The KG800 does not have this!"

The pricing will for sure be an issue. The expectation is that the LG device will be positioned lower into the market in relation to price. The E900 will be more expensive.
