Advantages clamshell phones
The parts are attached to each other by a hinge or flap mechanism where both parts can be brought towards each other. The phone must be opened before it can be used. This has the advantage that calls are not taken when a button is accidentally pressed. Also, this shape offers more protection for the display, significantly reducing the risk of scratches.
Most folding phones have a functionality called 'Active Flip' that allows you to answer or end a call by flipping the phone open or closed. The term 'folder' is also sometimes used for a clamshell phone.
Foldable folding phones
Foldable phones are on the rise due to the advent of flexible screens. Here, the entire inside consists of screen. The advantage of this is that you can fit a large screen into a small phone. Most manufacturers also fit a screen on the outside, usually smaller in size. Foldables are more expensive than traditional clamshell phones but also much more comprehensive.
