Tablets

A tablet is a flat computer with a large touch screen, usually from 7 inches in size. A tablet is the ideal couch buddy as a laptop replacement. It is suitable for looking up information, playing games but is now also great as a PC replacement. Although there are many manufacturers making tablets, you can roughly divide them into three categories; iPads, Android tablets and tablets running Windows.

iPad

Perhaps the best-known tablet is Apple's iPad. The first Apple iPad was announced by Steve Jobs in 2010. Many manufacturers followed Apple's idea and came up with their own tablet, mostly running under the Google's operating system; Android. The iPad is known for its simplicity and ease of use. A child can use it without any problem. In the beginning, the iPad was often a bit more expensive than the competition, but that price difference has now evened out. That does not apply to the iPad Pro variant, which is intended more for business and creative use.

Android tablet

Those without an iPad often have an Android tablet. Google's Android offers tablet support from version 3.0 Honeycomb announced in 2011. In the following years, Android got better and better for tablets although the range of apps still lags behind Apple. Most apps work but are not specifically optimised for tablets. The advantage of an Android tablet is that they come in many versions, shapes and sizes. Of course with corresponding price, from low to high. Biggest in the field of Android tablets is Samsung which faithfully upgrades its line every year.
