Vivo X500 Spotted: Entry-Level Model Gets iPhone-Style Camera Module, Pro Models Retain Round Design

If you're curious about what the Vivo X500 looks like, you won't have to wait until the September 21 announcement in China to find out. Vivo has already posted the official images on Weibo. What do we see? The large, round camera module is still there, but on the X500, it's moved to a platform in the corner. The X500 Pro and Pro Max, on the other hand, maintain the familiar circular module in the centre.

The Vivo X phones solved the problem of wobbly phones on a table years ago. Vivo places the camera module in a huge round island right in the centre. The upcoming Vivo X500 also has a round camera, but this time it is located in the corner on a platform alongside the flash and what appears to be another sensor. Vivo posted the images itself on Weibo.

In black, the platform is barely noticeable; in white, it stands out all the more

Platform for X500, round module for Pro models

This layout reminds us of the soon-to-be-released Honour Magic9 Pro Max: it, too, features a rectangular platform on the back that is clearly inspired by the iPhone 18 Pro. Instead of three equally sized round camera lenses, it has two small ones and one large one. With the Vivo X500, it appears that all cameras are housed within the round module.

Notably, only the standard X500 features this platform. The X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max keep the round camera module centred, just like the X300 series. Vivo is thus splitting its design: the entry-level model looks like an iPhone, while the Pro models remain recognisably Vivo.

The new design Vivo is using here will be a topic of debate. It is a matter of personal taste. In addition to white, the X500 comes in black, pink, and light green. On the black version, the camera module is largely hidden, which is ideal for those who are not fans of the design.

Camera specs and Ultra model: wait and see

We are keeping our options open regarding the cameras. Vivo has not said anything about them and the rumours are conflicting, so we will wait until September 21. In addition to the X500, the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max are also expected. Rumours suggest there will not be an Ultra model this year, but that has not been confirmed yet either.
