Fairbuds 2 arrive October 14: Fairphone asks €119

After we showed the first images of the Fairbuds 2 in September, Fairphone announced the wireless earbuds. Altho they have not yet been officially unveiled, they are expected to sound even better.

According to The Verge, Fairphone states that the Fairbuds 2 will arrive on October 14 and cost €119. Europe is first in line. The company also mentions seven user-replaceable parts and support for LDAC, a Bluetooth codec for high-resolution audio. The first Fairbuds only supported SBC and AAC.

On X, Fairphone states that the earbuds will last longer and shows three images. These are close-ups of details, and anyone who zooms in on our original images from September will undoubtedly recognise them.

Green, and the black version?

First, there is the deep green colour that may be called Forest Green, just like the colour in which the Fairphone 6+ is available. Fairphone does not show a black version, which we found earlier. There is a further close-up of the stem, which really does appear to consist of two parts. This fuels rumours that you can easily detach it to access the battery. Fairphone is known for its easily repairable products.

Repairable down to the stem?

Wireless earbuds are known to be extremely difficult to repair. iFixit recently tested the AirPods 5 from Apple and, for the first time, gave them a score higher than 0 with a 2 out of 10. With seven user-replaceable parts, the Fairbuds 2 are, on paper, far ahead of the AirPods 5.

Better sound thanks to LDAC

Fairphone also displays the text "Your sound. Even better." and "Coming soon" with its teaser. Part of that better sound is due to LDAC; we will hear what else Fairphone has done to the sound on October 14.
