Moto G47 Power Official: 7,000 mAh Battery, but Half the RAM

Lenovo has announced the Motorola Moto G47 Power. Similar to the G47, it has impressive specifications, but it features a much larger battery. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of the RAM.

We’ve all been there: a dead battery. We doubt that the newly announced Moto G47 Power will put an end to that, but it will likely run out of power less often than your current phone. That’s because it houses a 7000 mAh battery. That is a whopping 35% more than what is in the original Moto G47.

Moto G47 Power: More Battery, Less Memory

Same Device, Slightly Thicker and Heavier

Otherwise, it is mostly more of the same. The same 6.67-inch screen, the same camera system with a 108MP main camera, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. You will notice the larger battery in the weight: the Power weighs 215 grammes compared to 191 grammes for the standard G47, and at 8.9 millimetres, it is nearly a millimetre thicker. Charging is also faster, increasing from 20 to 30 watts. That sounds better than it is: a 7000 mAh battery simply takes longer to charge, so on balance, you wait about as long as you do with the G47. All in all, that is not much of an improvement.

The only significant difference: the halving of the RAM. That is a steep drop from 8 to 4 GB. This halving is undoubtedly due to the sharp rise in the price of memory chips. According to market researcher TrendForce, contract prices for DRAM rose by nearly 100% in the first quarter of 2026, and by more than half again in the second quarter.

4 GB RAM: Does RAM Boost Really Help?

Motorola hopes that, thanks to RAM Boost technology, you will not be affected by this in practise. The phone borrows up to 8 GB of memory from the 128 GB storage. Since that type of memory is many times slower than RAM (30x slower in terms of bandwidth and 1000x slower in terms of response time), you will notice the difference. Moreover, you cannot use that 8 GB to store your photos or videos. Far from ideal.

Price: Twenty Euros More Than the Moto G47

You can get the Motorola Moto G47 Power in the Pantone colours Nautical Blue, Capri, or Impenetrable, but always with 128 GB of storage for a suggested retail price of €339. Expect the first units to hit stores soon, though an exact date is still unknown.

For comparison: the standard Moto G47 launched in May for €319.99, with 8 GB of RAM. For an extra twenty euros, the Power gives you 1800 mAh more battery and slightly faster charging, but you sacrifice half your RAM. And that G47 has been on the market for a while now: in our price comparison tool, you can find it starting at €189.

If you use many apps at once or want your phone to still feel snappy in two years, the Moto G47 with 8 GB is the smarter choice. If your main priority is to go as long as possible without a charger, the Power is the only one of the two that delivers on that.
