Sony Ericsson has shown a large amount of Walkman products during the past year. Next to this set of mobile phones several accessories have been introduced. For example special music desk stands with build-in speakers, but also several headsets. One of these headsets is the new HBH-DS970; a wireless stereo Bluetooth headset.

The headset has not the same set-up as the BT620s from Jabra, but consists of two separate earplugs which will be placed in the ear. Both are connected via a wire that can be placed around the neck of the user and a remote control with build-in display. The DS970 is the latest wireless stereo Bluetooth headset from Sony Ericsson and is being delivered next to several other Walkman models as the W810i, W850i and W950i.

The style in which the headset is being build shows a clear relation with the Walkman range. The colour set-up used shows familiarities with other products shown by the Swedish manufacturer. The black and orange style with silver accents is exactly the same as what has been shown on for instance the W950i.

Both earplugs make use of the In-ear concept. It enhances the bass sound quality, however not every user will be that satisfied wearing the In-ear headset. People should make a distinctive choice for this concept. The headset fits better than the standard version delivered with all Walkman phones.

The Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 is a Bluetooth stereo headset, which supports the profiles Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP). Both profiles are essential while listening music and controlling the music player using a wireless connection. Via our search function you can enter the Bluetooth A2DP profile which sets up the wireless connection and generate a list of mobile phones which support this feature. Tip: Use the Advanced specifications and details setting!

The profile AVRCP makes it possible to change the setting start, pause, forward and previous inside the music player via the headset and the wireless connection. What does it mean? People do need to use wired headsets that lie around and mess up your desk or pocket. But you can wear a trendy headset which gives you hifi stereo audio such as the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970!

The audio quality of the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 is quite good, but really depends on the device you connect the headset to and the available options that enhance the sound quality. When you use the headset with for instance Sony Ericsson products you will notice that the quality is superb. People get the feeling they use a wired headset in stead of a wireless version. It is a true art! The quality is unsurpassed.

Also the use of an equalizer during operation is possible. The headset addresses the changes made in the player and changes the sound quality. On the remote control the user can rewind or forward to a different song, adjust the volume, pause the music player or block the controls. By using the build-in display it is possible to check the number playing and the height of the volume.

Watch the video of the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 and check how the headset will be controlled!

Phone conversations can also be taken care off with this headset. It works as it should be. In the beginning it is quite difficult to find the phone control key because it is between the left ear and left shoulder. You would expect it to be on remote control and not between your ear and shoulder. But after you found the key there is no problem in using it.

The weight of the headset lies around the 27 grams and that is reasonably light for a Bluetooth headset. The headset has a maximum of 300 hours standby time and a call time of 6 hours. No bad values for this music headset. Charging is conducted via the standard charger which is delivered with several other accessories and which you can use to charge any Sony Ericsson device.

Do you want to listen music without wires that lie around and mess up your desk or pocket and the freedom of moving around and switching between your incoming calls and your favorite music? That is the prevailing choice that needs to be taken by any user buying this headset! Then the HBH-DS970 is the best stereo Bluetooth headset on the market available. Together with a Walkman product like the W950i it is the best combination possible when you look at listening music via a wireless headset.
