What is refurbished?

The literal translation of refurbished is refurbished or polished. It is somewhat different from second-hand. Refurbished products have been checked, are cleaned and possibly repaired after which they are sold again so they can make someone else happy.

Providers of refurbished products also provide warranty as if it were a new product. So you can always go back with it if there are any problems. But it won't come to that soon because providers check products on sometimes 50 points before they end up on the shelf. You buy a product that is technically 100% in order without paying the new-price.

Refurbished products sometimes come with a qualification that says something about their condition. There are three different product conditions;

  • A - As good as new
    No visible or minimal damage. These are often returned products or with which the previous owner has been extremely careful.

  • B - Slightly used
    Features slight signs of use, damage or discolouration. Think scratches around the charging port or discolouration from a case.

  • C - Visibly used
    Products that have visible signs of use such as scratches at the corners or on the screen. Technically, these products are not defective. This product condition is often the cheapest.

Frequently asked questions about refurbished

Here you will find common questions about refurbished products and their answers. If your question is not among them, do not hesitate to contact us. You can find the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Make sure the provider has the Refurbished Hallmark. This way, you are sure to get high-quality products with warranty and service. Reliable providers affiliated with the Keurmerk Refurbished are Forza refurbished, Renewd, Fixje, leapp, Inexeon and Computer world.

Refurbished products from providers with the Refurbished Quality Mark are guaranteed to have undergone a quality check and will come with at least a two-year warranty. You also know through this quality mark that this provider is financially sound so you can still contact them with questions, complaints or problems later.

A well-maintained refurbished product that you treat with care can last just as long as a new product. Keep it in a case if necessary and be careful with salt water. However, a refurbished phone will not get software support for as long as a new product so its lifespan is usually around two years.

Both have had previous owners, but only refurbished products have been checked and repaired if necessary. Think a new battery or a different screen. Also, refurbished products are often cleaned, have software updates and, not unimportantly, have a warranty. This way, you can go to a shop if there are any problems.

If you buy a new mobile phone, you can sell your old one. Some of those phones end up with provider of refurbished products after which they are checked, repaired where necessary and put back on sale. The majority of refurbished products, however, come from business or from leasing.
