It's all about the A15 Bionic

For journalists, the iPhone SE 2022 is not the most exciting phone. It looks the same as the 5-year-old iPhone 8. It's more expensive than its predecessor, it just has a new processor. That's it. But that's most likely enough. Because the A15 Bionic, the same chipset found in the iPhone 13 Series, is today's most powerful mobile processor. It makes 5G possible, and despite the price increase, it's still the most affordable new iPhone. And so, it will be the first option for those looking for a cheap iPhone or switching to the Apple ecosystem.

Same camera, but better photos

The new Apple iPhone SE still uses a 4.7-inch large (or relatively compact) screen with crisp Retina resolution. It is still not an OLED panel but a regular LCD. As a result, colours don't splash off the screen. Above the screen sits quite a bit of space, but the area below is used for the home button. In it sits the familiar fingerprint scanner. This makes the iPhone SE 3 the only iPhone with Touch ID recognition. On the back, we find a single 12MP camera with flash, but thanks to the A15 Bionic chip, it now features Apple's smart HDR algorithm; Smart HDR 4. Deep Fusion is also supported for better-exposed photos in the dark.

What is new, however, is the stronger glass. Both on the front and back, Apple applies the sturdier and more scratch-resistant Ceramic Shield. And as before, it is water and dust-resistant. Your iPhone SE 2022 should therefore last longer and remain more beautiful during its lifetime. It's also environmentally conscious. And to emphasise that, the device comes without a charger in the box. Chances are you already own one. Otherwise, you can charge it wirelessly.
