It is also possible to determine the position in densely built-up areas because the mobile network roughly already knows where the mobile phone is located. This information is obtained using the Cell ID of the base station to which the mobile phone is logged in. Tunnels, walls and forests hamper the reception of satellite signals required for the use of GPS. A-GPS catches this problem.
