Alle Asus phones
Asus is originally a Taiwanese company that became big by building motherboards for desktop computers. It later started building complete computers as well as laptops in addition to computer components. Its full name is ASUSTeK Computer Inc, but it is sometimes shortened to ASUSTeK or ASUS.
Asus history
Asus was founded in 1989 by about four former Acer employees. They were working on a motherboard for an Intel processor. Besides motherboards, they also developed laptops, video cards and PDAs.
The first Asus phones rolled off the production line in 2003. The Asus J100 was a flip phone and had 3G functionality. This was soon followed by smartphones, especially under Windows Mobile. Later, Garmin and Asus launched the Nüvifone under a joint name. In 2010, this collaboration came to an end.
At the end of 2008, Asus joined the Open Handset Alliance. This consortium was created to grow Android for phones. The first Asus smartphone with Android was the PadFone. This 4.3-inch device came with a 10-inch tablet screen where it could be plugged in.
Asus series
Asus has a long history with many forays into different platforms and designs. Think of the PadFone series, a smartphone/tablet hybrid, and the P series consisting of Windows Mobile phones. Currently, the range consists of two series;
- Zenfone: Compact flagship
- ROG Phone: Ultimate gaming phones with range of accessories
Love for Intel
Asus and Intel have a long history of close collaboration. While the chip maker is big on desktop computing, it is not big on mobile phones. There, manufacturers mostly use ARM-based chips because they are more economical. Nevertheless, Asus came out with an Android smartphone running on an Intel Atom processor in 2015. Besides this Zenfone 2, versions of the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 also got Intel Atom processors, after that Asus would only use processors from Qualcomm.
