Compact smartphones
Need a compact smartphone? Here is a complete list of smartphones that do fit in your pocket. Do you want a modern smartphone that can do everything and can be operated with one hand? Then this is the start of your search.

The trend today may be 'big, bigger biggest', but that doesn't mean there are those who prefer a compact smartphone. We are talking about modern smartphones with a screen diagonal of 5.4 or smaller. This used to be big, but today, because of increasingly thin screen bezels, it is compact.
Old Apple iPhones
Anyone thinking of a compact smartphone must quickly think of Apple's older iPhones. Phones with a 4-inch screen that could be operated with one hand. However, Apple has not released 4-inch phones since the 2016 iPhone SE. So it can no longer be called truly modern. Android manufacturers were experimenting with larger screens before, and specimens with 6-inch or larger screens have long since ceased to be the exception. So it will be a search for compact modern smartphones, but that does not mean they are not there.
Sony Xperia Compact
Sony has been trying to lure customers with its Compact series for years. The series does not get an update every year, mainly because the demand for such compact phones is not high. A model from this series guarantees a high-end smartphone with good camera in a compact body. So consider this one if you want a high-end phone with modern features.
Extinct category
Unfortunately, we still have to conclude that 4-inch smartphones are a dying breed. Simply because the demand for them is too small. We have become accustomed to larger smartphones and manufacturers are applying handy tricks in the software to make it easy to operate with one hand. Which ones exactly you will read below. There are, however, manufacturers that specifically target compact smartphones including Unihertz and Sudroid. Another option are so-called companion phones. These are very small phones "for on the side". Think of the Palm Companion.
One-hand operation
As mentioned, manufacturers are trying to make it easier and easier for you to still operate a large smartphone with one hand. If you have given up hope on a compact smartphone, then these are ways to make your life easier:
- Apple Reachability - Swipe down the bottom of the screen
- Huawei One-hand UI - Swipe over the navigation bar
- LG One-handed Operation - Click on the icon in the navigation bar
- Samsung One-handed mode - Press the home button 3 times
- Sony One-handed mode - Swipe over the navigation bar
For all other Android phones, it is also still possible to search for a similar app in the Play Store.
