On the face of it, and judging by its name, the Motorola edge 30 Pro is a professional high-end phone. But is it really? At least it's cheaper than many other flagships. So let's find out exactly what's going on.

Motorola started the edge series with stylishly designed smartphones at the top end of the market. It had everything it needed to become the new flagship series. After that, things got a little unclear. More models followed, with numerous variations. Many of them were significantly less progressive and ambitious than the first generation. What remained were the Pro versions; these were inexpensive flagships. Not quite high-end, but still the essential features. Think screen, cameras, battery, and performance. This edge 30 Pro doesn't do badly in that regard. It features a large 6.7-inch OLED display with smooth 144Hz playback, a 50+50+2MP camera setup, a generous 4800mAh battery with 68 Watts of TurboPower charging, and a high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for powerful performance. So, where's the "catch" here?

edge 30 Pro shortcomings

Zooming in further on the specifications, we see why this edge 30 Pro has a lower starting price than other flagships. The screen may be modern, but it does not have a built-in fingerprint scanner. Lenovo places it on the right side, inside the power button. That's slightly cheaper. And while the camera features an excellent 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide angle, and a 2MP depth camera, it lacks a separate zoom lens. Many flagships do have one. Also, due to the big screen size, the battery life is limited to "only" one day. We have nothing but praise for the processor. Especially since it is accompanied by a generous 12GB of RAM, which is more than sufficient.
