The Xiaomi POCO F2 Pro is already the 2nd model in the popular POCO family. We don't know why the successor to the POCO F1 has 'Pro' behind its name, but it probably has something to do with the professional functions it has. One of them is the special popup-self camera.

Uninterrupted screen experience

Phones without screen border and without notch or punch-hole; they are extremely rare. In order to make room for a selfie camera, Xiaomi has opted for a special solution. A popup selfiecam. Xiaomi did it before with the Mi 9T and 9T Pro but they were a lot more expensive. This POCO F2 Pro is more of a prise fighter. A selfie camera that has to slide up first doesn't sound like an ideal way for those who want to shoot a selfie quickly. Also to use it for face recognition to unlock is something we advise against. Though it can be done. Xiaomi did take the necessary precautions to make the mechanism as durable as possible. For example, there is fall detection that automatically slides the selfie camera back into the device to prevent damage. Morality of the storey; if you care about selfies then this may not be your phone but for the so-now-and-then selfies it is more than fine.

Sufficient power to play for a long time

POCO phones are known for their relatively low price and high performance. The POCO F2 Pro also seems to meet that condition. It is powerful enough thanks to a Snapdragon 865 processor. This can not be otherwise because it is the most powerful processor Qualcomm makes. This makes the F2 Pro suitable for gaming. And long, too, thanks to its 4700 mAh large battery. Xiaomi maintains at high and low that you can play with it 16 hours in a row, altho we personally advise against that. Take a break too. And then hang it right on the charger. Charging is extra fast with 30Watt and there is support for Quick Charge 4.0+.

Quadruple camera system without real zoom

The 20MP selfie camera may be hidden in the camera, but the rear camera makes no effort to hide. The four sensors are in a round module and consist of; a 64MP main camera, a 13MP camera with 123° ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth camera. Xiaomi calls that macro camera a telemacro camera with 2x zoom. We think that's a bit misleading. You can zoom in 2x from very close range. Such extreme close-ups seem nice but personally we see a full telephoto lens to zoom with. Then you can bring images closer from afar, which is much more useful in practise. Zooming is therefore only possible by zooming on the sensor. With 64MP it is on the big side, so fortunately this is possible.
