Start exploringAt first glance, the Samsung Galaxy S7 looks very much like the S6 from a year earlier. Nevertheless, there have been some changes both on the outside and on the inside. Here we are going to examine what exactly.
First of all, the Galaxy S7 has been given the necessary curves. When Samsung announced the edge variant last year, it was very popular because of its curved screen and various curves. The same curves are found on the back of the S7. Near the sides, the phone bends down and therefore it immediately feels a lot better in your hand. The front is also not so flat anymore due to the curvature of the 3D screen glass. It may all be minimal but it does contribute to a more premium feel.
Samsung is also focussing on the camera with this Galaxy S7. New is the Dual Pixel camera technology where every pixel can be used to focus. Previously, that was only 5 percent of the total number of pixels. Now you can only focus when you see clearly. Samsung applies a new lens that allows for considerably more light than before. With a maximum aperture of f/1.7, extra light falls on the new sensor that also produces less noise than before. As a result, you get faster, clearer and sharper images. Shooting pictures outside in the rain is also possible thanks to the new waterproof housing. Thanks to an IP68 rating, the S7 survives a 30-minute dive at a depth of 1 metre.

Samsung is fitting a new and larger battery of 3,000 mAh into the Galaxy S7. That's almost 18% more. As a result, the body is slightly thicker. It's a trade-off we can certainly appreciate. After all, at 7.9 millimetres, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is still extremely compact. An additional advantage is that the camera module no longer sticks out so far. That battery can do a new trick this year: wireless fast charging. Previously, you could fast charge the S flagship only via a cable. Now it can also be fast charged wirelessly. Within 130 minutes you have a fully charged battery. That's 20 minutes faster than the S6, and that's while the battery has also become thicker.
