Nearly 4x larger Flex Window

The most significant difference from the previous Z Flip is the 3.78x larger outside screen. Samsung calls this the Flex Window. Now that it is so much larger, you can better view content on it and operate it more easily. The Flex Window on the Z Flip5 has a somewhat unconventional shape; it resembles a folder tab. The screen is not meant to run entire apps on it, but Samsung has created unique widgets for its most-used apps. Consider chequing the weather forecast, playing music, or viewing stock prices. You can even answer messages, but we doubt typing on a full QWERTY keyboard works well.

Fully closing hinge

Once opened, few changes are apparent. The screen size, resolution, and refresh rate have all remained the same. The cameras from last year have been brought out again, so there are no changes here except for some new features. Only minor changes have been made to the hinge but with significant consequences. You can now fully close the Z Flip 5 for the first time. Previously, space was left between the display, ideal for collecting dust. Something that was not convenient for a phone that is not dustproof. The ZFlip5 also does not have an IPX8 rating for dust-tightness, but the protection provided by the complete folding will still make it perform better in this area in practise.
