The Xiaomi Mi 11 is not only the first ever smartphone with a Snapdragon 888 processor it is also a mobile with a 108MP camera and an excellent display. The screen was even awarded an A+ score by DisplayMate. What that means and what it can do for you is something we will explain here.

Curved screen without unintended touch

Xiaomi is becoming increasingly well-known. This has everything to do with the competitively priced phones they release with competitive features. This Xiaomi Mi 11 is no different and that starts with its appearance. For example, not only have premium materials been used including Gorilla Glass Victus but also playful curves. For example, the screen is curved at the edges. This can sometimes result in unintentional touches on the screen. The Mi 11 is therefore equipped with a sensor that ignores these kinds of touches. The screen measures a spacious 6.81 inches and displays a high WQHD+ resolution of 3200 by 1440 pixels. That is almost 2x sharper than a Full HD resolution. Images are therefore razor sharp.

Camera with movie effects

Yet you recognise a Xiaomi Mi 11 mainly by its back. Indeed, Xiaomi applies a very distinctive camera island. We see a large camera sensor with silver ring. That is 108 megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). You shoot razor sharp photos here, full of detail and even in low light. Underneath is a 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle lens. This has a viewing angle of 123°: more than enough to capture large groups of people or for landscape photos. On the right, we find another 5MP telae-macro camera for extreme close-ups of, for example, plants, insects or your cup of coffee. Xiaomi has also equipped the camera with fun features like 'AI Erase 2.0' that removes unwanted objects from your photos and 'AI Cinema' that allows you to add movie effects to your videos. Zooming is only possible digitally by zooming in on the large 108 megapixel sensor. This does mean that you lose some quality compared to phones with a separate zoom lens.

Non-waterproof powerhouse

Inside the Mi 11, we find a Snapdragon 888 processor with built-in 5G support. This draws power from a 4600 mAh battery which on paper is enough for a full day of use. In practise, with such a large screen, this may be disappointing, but fortunately you can get back on the road quickly. You can charge quickly wired with up to 55W and wirelessly with 50W. You can also charge other devices wirelessly, but then with a maximum of 10W. The Xiaomi Mi 11 supports the new Wi-Fi 6 and features stereo speakers with Harman Kardon sound. The only thing missing is a headphone jack though you can always use a USB-C dongle. Wireless music listening is also possible of course.
