Samsung Galaxy A17 5G becomes official without further announcement

Samsung has added the Galaxy A17 5G to its website without issuing a press release or any other announcement. This officially confirms the entry-level model, which has been leaked several times before. Read on to find out what to expect, when it will be available, and how much it will cost.

The Galaxy A17 5G is one of the simplest Galaxy phones you can buy. It is also one of the few, if not the only one, with a notch in the screen for the selfie camera. And yet Samsung is charging a hefty €229 for one.

The design is pretty modern with fairly thin screen bezels. This is not the case with the bottom side, which still has a firm chin. The camera module is nicely designed and includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). There will be three colour versions of which the dark blue one looks very premium. There is also a grey and all-black version of the A17 5G.

Under the hood, the device uses an Exynos 1330 chip with 4GB of RAM memory. The storage memory comes out to 128GB but is expandable up to 2TB by inserting a memory card. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and can be quickly charged with up to 25W.

Whether there will be a 4G version of it like its predecessor is still unknown; it is not yet listed on the Samsung website. However, it is obvious since there is also a Galaxy A16 4G. Moreover, images of it leaked earlier.

Samsung says it will deliver the Galaxy A17 5G after August 11 for a suggested retail price of €239 but we have also spotted it €10 cheaper already. In addition to the device, the box contents include a USB Type-C to Type-C cable a sim eject tool.
