Oppo to Announce Reno17 Series on November 9: What We Know So Far
Oppo posted a teaser for the upcoming Reno17 series on the Chinese platform Weibo. The series is set to launch in China on November 9, so it won't be long now.
In the accompanying video, we see a cat walking on the rooftops of what looks like Paris at nite. We don’t yet know what this has to do with the Reno17 series, but it will be a reference to something. The fact that the video appeared only in China is less significant than it seems: the Reno series has been released first in China for years and follows in Europe a few months later. So count on China leading the way, not on Europe being skipped. Note: November 9 is the announcement; whether sales in China will start on the same day has not yet been confirmed.

Reno16 on market for only 90 days
It feels like only recently that Oppo announced the Reno16 series. That is not just a feeling, it is actually true. The Reno16 5G first hit European stores on August 7, exactly 90 days ago at the time of writing. And the Reno15 5G was announced in China on November 10 last year and came to Europe at the end of January. So this year, Oppo is repeating its own rhythm almost to the day, and that haste is remarkable: anyone who just bought a Reno16 sees their device succeeded after only three months.
What we expect from the Reno17
According to most rumours, the series initially consists of two models: the Reno17 and the Reno17 Pro. The well-known insider Digital Chat Station previously claimed that the Reno17 Pro will get a 6.32-inch OLED screen with 120 Hz, a MediaTek Dimensity 8550 chip, a 200-megapixel main camera alongside a 50-megapixel ultra-wide and a 50-megapixel periscope zoom, and a battery of about 7000 mAh.
The regular Reno17 would use a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a slightly larger 6.5-inch screen, three 50-megapixel cameras, and an even larger battery of around 8000 mAh. Such batteries usually make a device heavier and thicker, so expect more weight than the Reno16, altho the dimensions have not yet been leaked. The various leaks contradict each other on details, so take the exact figures with a grain of salt. What is official: Oppo's own product manager already teased a new Live Photo feature that captures moving photos in 4K and extends the clips from three to six seconds. We do not dare to make any statements about prices yet.
When will the Reno17 arrive in the Netherlands?
We doubt whether the Reno17 will be in Dutch stores this year. If Oppo maintains last year's schedule, the European introduction will not follow until early 2027, presumably around January, and possibly with different models and specifications than the Chinese versions. Anyone currently eying a Reno16 does not need to wait for that, but would do well to keep an eye on the price of the Reno16 in the coming months: an upcoming successor is usually the moment when the old generation becomes cheaper.
