Here you’ll find the Cyber Monday deals on smartphones: phones that have seen a real drop in price and devices that come with a free gift. Listed below are the devices with the biggest actual price drops. A price that had already fallen weeks earlier, or was even lower recently, does not count as a Cyber Monday discount in our view.
What is Cyber Monday?
Cyber Monday is the Monday following Black Friday and marks the end of the discount weekend. The day originated as an online counterpart: whilst Black Friday began in high streets, Cyber Monday centres on online shops. Nowadays, many promotions run throughout the weekend, and some shops still save a final offer for Monday.
What deals can you find on this page?
The overview contains two types of offers:
- Genuine price reduction: the price of the device has clearly fallen compared to the previous period.
- Device with a free gift: you get something extra, such as wireless earbuds, a smartwatch or a temporary subscription to a service.
A free gift is only a good deal if you would have bought it yourself. So don’t automatically add its value to the discount, and if in doubt, compare it with a handset that has simply dropped in price.
How to get the most out of Cyber Monday
There’s a huge range on offer and many promotions are short-lived. Follow these four tips to avoid a bad buy:
- Compare by provider: on the product page, you can see the current prices side by side, so you can check whether a deal really is the best available.
- Work out the total cost: with a contract, don’t just look at the monthly price, but at what you’ll pay over the entire term.
- Check the updates: a budget phone is only a good buy if it will continue to receive security updates for years to come. You can see until when this is the case on the specifications page.
- Bear in mind the delivery time: online shops get very busy around Cyber Monday. If it doesn’t say ‘in stock’, you’ll need to be a bit more patient.
Go for it if the phone you’d already had your eye on has actually dropped in price.
