Honor X Series

Buy the Honor X series

The Honor X series is the brand’s affordable range: devices that may not boast the most cutting-edge specifications, but which, in the higher-end models, do offer long battery life and a casing that has been tested for drop resistance. Below you’ll find the X models currently available from our partner retailers, along with their prices for each device. We don’t sell any of these ourselves and don’t earn any more from one model than another. Please note that the range of X models in the Netherlands is limited; below you can see the names under which the other models are sold here. Use the filters to quickly find the model that suits you best.

What is the Honor X series?

The X series is the entry-level range from Honor, alongside the more expensive Magic line. The numbering usually gives a good indication: the higher the number after the X, the more feature-rich the device, although the series does not follow a consistent pattern across every generation. The lowest-numbered models are designed for making calls, sending messages and browsing; the top-of-the-range models move into the mid-range, featuring a larger screen and fast charging.

Why is an X model sometimes called Magic Lite?

If you’re looking for a specific X model and can’t find it here, this is often down to the naming convention. Honor releases some of its X handsets in Europe under the name Magic Lite, with similar specifications. A model known internationally as an X-series device may therefore be sold here under a different name. These models can be found on our Magic series page. The product overview on this page shows which devices are actually available under the X name.

What should you look out for with an X model?

Pay particular attention to the differences between the models themselves, as these are greater within this series than the shared name suggests.

Battery life

For the higher-end X models, the battery is the key selling point: Honor fits them with larger batteries than is usual in this class, meaning you’ll get well over a day’s use under normal conditions. This isn’t the case with the entry-level models, where battery life is more in line with what’s typical, so check the stated capacity in mAh for the model itself. In practice, a larger battery also means a heavier device; if you’re looking for something lighter, pay attention to the weight and thickness in the specifications. Also bear in mind that screen brightness and network reception ultimately determine how much you’ll get out of it.

Durability and water resistance

Honor has its X-models tested for drop resistance and dust and water resistance, and explicitly highlights these certifications in the specifications. Pay attention to the IP rating, as this varies significantly from model to model: a lower rating only protects against splashes, whilst a higher one also withstands brief submersion. Furthermore, a certification indicates what the device has withstood during a test, not that nothing can go wrong. If you’re looking for a device that’s built entirely for that purpose, take a look at the rugged phones.

Updates

The length of time an X-series model receives security updates and new Android versions varies by model and is generally shorter for entry-level models than for higher-end ones. Check what Honor specifies for your chosen model, as this determines how long you can use the device securely.

Where the X series falls short

The X series is particularly weaker when it comes to the camera in low light and in processing power for demanding games. The main camera takes excellent photos in daylight, but in the dark and with moving subjects, you’ll immediately notice the difference compared to a more expensive handset. If you’re looking for a strong camera or plenty of processing power, take a look at the camera phones or devices designed for gaming.
