LG wants to increase profit with high-end smartphones

LG today presented it results over the last quarter of 2011. The results give the company hope for improvement, but aren't great yet.

The smartphone division of the Korean company didn't succeed to make profit in the last quarter of last year. It made a net loss of 226 million dollars. According to LG, the loss can be solved by selling more high-end smartphones. The profit margin on such handsets is higher than that on featurephones. LG will try to lower the costs for the production of the last category.

Top segment

LG already set the first steps for success in the top segment of the smartphone market. The Optimus 2X Speed was launched in Korean stores lately, and has stirred up a lot of ethousiastic reactions due to its dualcore processor.
