More and more rumors surface about Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

We hear more and more rumors about the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5. Talks about what changes it has, which specifications will be added, and which features will remain the same. Time to look at closer look at those.

Now that the Galaxy S23 series has been out for quite a while, it's time to look forward to the next big Galaxy launch. Later this year Samsung is expected to unveil the Fold 5 and Flip 5. Rumors of the latter are surfacing at an increasing pace.

1. Larger cover screen

Starting with a more extensive cover screen. Where Motorola and Oppo already showed models with a more comprehensive cover screen, Samsung also seems to be moving in that direction. For example, the external displays of the current Oppo Find N2 Flip and Motorola Razr 2022 have dimensions between 3.26 and 2.7 inches. Samsung, for now, remains stuck at a small 1.7 inch. But possibly the Galaxy Z Flip 5 stretches that to 3.4 inches.

2. Colors

A reasonably new rumor tells us something about the future colors of the Z Flip 5. While the Flip 4 is available in Blue, Bora Purple, Pink Gold, and Graphite Black, the Flip 5 is expected to be available in Beige, Gray, Light Green, and Light Pink. This is reminiscent of the current color offering of the S23 series, although that green version is a bit darker than light green.

3. Cameras

And then there's news about the cameras on the back. The Flip traditionally has two cameras, and that will remain. But, disappointingly, Samsung is also sticking to the exact resolution, twice a 12MP sensor. Now there is more to it than megapixels if you want to shoot a perfect picture, but we would have liked to have seen at least a 50MP one.

The lack of a dedicated zoom camera also remains a miss for the Flip. For that, you'll have to go with the (more expensive) Fold 5. The similar camera specs only tell one side of the story, though. We don't know what sensors Samsung will use. Possibly that will still bring significant improvements to shooting better photos. Who knows.
