Samsung Galaxy S23 series sales are 22% up, thanks in particular to S23 Ultra

Samsung seems to have yet another sales success; this time it's the Galaxy S23 series. Samsung could use some success since the S21 series did not sell well. Interestingly, the S23 Ultra is not only the most expensive but also the best-selling model in the series.

In the first eight months, Samsung sold 22.89 million units of the S23 series. Of those, 8.09 million were a S23, 4.11 million were a S23+ and a whopping 10.69 million were a S23 Ultra. This makes the Galaxy S23 series perform as much as 22% better over the same period than the S22 series.

The sales figures come from Hana Securities, which does not explain the increase. Samsung equipped the whole Galaxy S23 series exclusively with a Snapdragon chip. Previously, specific markets were served with an Exynos chip, while others received a Snapdragon processor. Samsung states that both versions are equivalent in performance, but benchmarks and battery tests show something else.

S23 Ultra saves money, S23+ remains problem child

That Samsung sells more copies of the S23 Ultra than cheaper entry-level models is good news for profitability. The figures also show that the Galaxy S23 Plus is not selling as well as the other models. As such, the larger version remains a worried child for Samsung that was previously rumored to be disappearing.

S24 series on the way

Sales for the S23 series are expected to slow down now that the S24 series is expected soon. That may happen as early as January 2024, one month earlier than usual. Of the upcoming S24 series, Samsung is said to use versions with Exynos and Snapdragon. If that happens, and if sales go down, then we will know what is to blame.
