Leaked renders confirm our Pixel Watch 5 scoop and solve Pyrite mystery

Matte gold case, dark green strap: Pyrite is both

The first official-looking renders of the Google Pixel Watch 5 have leaked, confirming what we reported last week. The watch comes in four colours—Natural Silver, Dark Anthracite, Warm Gold, and Pyrite—which match the finishes our source mentioned exactly. The renders also answer the question that has lingered since then: Is the Pyrite finish gold or green? The answer is both.

The renders come from typically reliable leaker @onleaks and show each of the four colour variants with their corresponding straps. This provides our first look at the complete picture:

  • Dark Anthracite: matte black case with a black strap
  • Natural Silver: polished case with a light strap featuring a green tint
  • Pyrite: matte gold case with a dark green strap
  • Warm Gold: polished case with an orange-pink strap, exclusive to the 41mm size

Pyrite Mystery Solved

Confusion arose regarding the new Pyrite colour. Our information pointed to a gold hue with a satin finish, while the French publication Dealabs subsequently reported that a green version was in the mix. The renders show that both sources saw something real but were looking at different parts: the case of the Pyrite version is indeed matte gold, while the included strap is dark green. So, anyone who sees the watch at a glance might simply label it “the green one,” even though the case itself is the second gold shade alongside Warm Gold, as we previously reported.

The renders also confirm the other details from our previous coverage, including the fact that Warm Gold is available only in the smallest 41mm size. You can find the complete breakdown of all 14 versions in our previous article.

New Watch Face with Gemini Button

The renders reveal more than just colours. All four watches feature a previously unseen watch face with an analogue clock, wavy backgrounds, and—prominently displayed—a shortcut to Gemini. Google is thus explicitly pushing its AI assistant to the forefront on the wrist, in line with expectations that the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip will bring more AI capabilities to Wear OS.

At first glance, little seems to have changed in the watch’s design: the distinctive round, domed case remains intact.

A side note: the renders appeared on a previously unknown website, which also mentions a special Tensor chip for wearables. We’re taking that claim with a huge grain of salt, as there’s currently no evidence to back it up. The renders themselves, on the other hand, look authentic and aline seamlessly with what was already known.

Four More Weeks to Wait

Google will unveil the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12 during the Made By Google event, alongside the Pixel 11 series. According to earlier reports, the watch will be available in stores starting August 20, though a price increase compared to the Pixel Watch 4 should be expected. As soon as more information about Dutch prices and availability is available, you’ll find it here.
