We can only praise the mission of the Dutch Fairphone. The goal of most phone companies is to release a new model every year, and to make sure you don't use the same model for too long. At Fairphone they want you to use their phones as long as possible. And if they break down unexpectedly, that you can repair them yourself. And they want to use sustainable and fair materials as much as possible. This Fairphone 4 is made out of fairtrade gold, ASI certified aluminium, 100% recycled plastic and the cobalt and lithium is won in a fair way.

Future-proof

Did the previous Fairphone phones always look a bit dated, this Fairphone 4 looks pretty modern. This is mainly because of the borderless screen with camera notch, but also because of the rounded aluminium side. The back is made of 100% recycled plastic, the most expensive version has a speckled green version. The Fairphone 4 is the first model of the company with 5G support. This assures you of a future proof phone that will last a long time. You get a 5 year warranty, as long as you register it before 2023. You can replace the parts with the screwdriver that comes with the device. Spare parts can be bought from Fairphone itself. Think of batteries, camera's, screens and back covers.

No headphone port, cable or charger

The Fairphone 4 has a spacious 6.3-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution. On the back is a dual camera with a separate depth sensor. Inside we find a Snapdragon 750G processor with 6 or 8 GB of RAM memory and 128 or 256 GB of storage memory. The "4" came out with Android 11 and if we know Fairphone a bit by now, you can count on many more updates. With an IP54-rating the device is even water splash proof. What is missing this year is a headphone port. Fairphone also goes with the times. As usual a USB cable and charger are missing in the box. Fairphone assumes you still have one, and if not, you can buy it in the Fairphone shop.
