Redmi Note 17 Pro Max Coming Soon: Phone with 10,000 mAh Battery
Does this sound familiar? A phone that’s always out of battery. On August 27, Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which features a 10,000-mAh battery. However, it remains to be seen whether the model released here will actually have that high of a capacity. Various sources estimate the capacity outside China to be 9,210 mAh.
Xiaomi will announce the Redmi Note 17 series on August 27, 2026, as it reported on its X account. The series will consist of the Redmi Note 17, Redmi Note 17 Pro, and so this Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which stands out particularly for its battery capacity. On its own teaser page, Xiaomi lists it as 10,000 mAh. However, various sources, including Gagadget, put the capacity for the model outside of China at 9,210 mAh. Gagadget attributes that difference to European regulations. We won’t know exactly which number Dutch buyers will get until August 27.
In the meantime, we’ve already found a few images of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max in white and green. On the back, we see two cameras, and the camera island already reveals some specifications. Specifically, it’s a "50MP OIS camera." So expect a main camera with optical image stabilisation. Given the small size of the second lens, we suspect it’s either a secondary camera or a low-resolution ultra-wide-angle lens.
Normally, manufacturers reserve the name "Max" for their largest model, but for the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, that name doesn’t quite fit here. The largest model in the series is presumably the entry-level Redmi Note 17 with a 6.99-inch screen. According to rumours, the Pro Max will feature a smaller 6.83-inch display. However, the "Max" here refers to the battery, which has a capacity of 10,000 mAh in China. Charging will likely be at 100W, which is necessary to fully charge such a large device in a reasonable amount of time.
There is a trade-off, however. According to leaked specifications, the Pro Max weighs 229.5 grammes and is 8.6 mm thick, making it significantly heavier than the average phone of this size. The fact that so much capacity fits into such a housing at all is due to silicon-carbon (Si-C) technology, which allows more energy to be stored in the same space.
How much will it cost? Officially, nothing has been announced yet, but Leaked European prices put the Redmi Note 17 5G at €400, the Note 17 Pro at €500, and this Pro Max at €600 for the version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. That last price stands out, because according to the same rumours, it’s powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5: a mid-range chip. So with this device, you’re mainly paying for the battery rather than for performance. If you value long battery life over speed, you’ll get a lot in return. If you’re expecting a snappy phone for €600, you’re better off looking elsewhere.
On the global Xiaomi website, we learn that the Note 17 series comes with quite a few extras. A free screen and back cover replacement within 24 months, a battery replacement within 36 months, 3 months of free Spotify Premium, 2 months of free YouTube Premium, and 6 months of free Google One access with 200GB of storage. Of course, terms and conditions apply: Xiaomi itself adds "limited eligibility," which means that not every buyer will qualify. So it’s still unclear whether Dutch buyers will actually receive these trial subscriptions. If the offer applies here as well, it’s quite generous.
We will hear the full storey on August 27, 2026. That’s when Xiaomi will officially announce the Redmi Note 17 series, with a global launch on the horizon. We will then pay particular attention to the suggested retail prices, how many years of updates you can expect, and whether there are any hidden limitations.
