Buy an Asus ROG Phone
The Asus ROG Phone is the best-known gaming phone on the market: a device that’s all about screen refresh rate, cooling and in-game controls. On this page, you can see which ROG Phones are still available in the Netherlands, both unlocked and on a contract, with the current prices from all retailers. Asus didn’t release any new phones in 2026, so the range is limited and varies by retailer. If you’d like to explore a wider selection, use our overview of gaming phones. Use the filters for price, RAM and battery life to instantly find the device that suits your playing style.

What should you look out for in an Asus ROG Phone?
An ROG Phone is a flagship device designed entirely with gaming in mind: a display that runs at well over 120Hz in games, extra cooling, plenty of RAM and buttons on the edge that let you aim and shoot in shooters without your thumbs covering the screen. That’s great if you’re a serious gamer. For anyone who just plays the odd game now and then, it’s overkill: any modern top-of-the-range model runs mobile games without any issues. You can see the current prices in the overview above.
What makes an ROG Phone different from a standard flagship?
The ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro, the latest generation, clearly demonstrate what the brand stands for.
- Screen refresh rate: the 6.78-inch screen normally runs between 1 and 120Hz, but goes up to 165Hz or even 185Hz when gaming. You’ll notice this most in fast-paced shooters.
- Shoulder buttons: the touch-sensitive AirTrigger buttons on the edge act as extra control buttons, ensuring your fingers don’t block the screen.
- Cooling: The separately available AeroActive Cooler clips onto the back to keep the phone cool during long sessions.
- Headphone jack: a 3.5mm jack, rare on flagship models and handy as a cable doesn’t cause any lag. See also phones with a headphone jack.
- RAM: 16GB comes as standard, allowing games and apps to continue running in the background rather than reloading.
Do you really need a gaming phone?
Not for most people. The graphics performance of an ROG Phone comes from the same top-of-the-range chip found in standard flagship models from Samsung, Google and Oppo. The difference lies in the finer details: longer sustained high frame rates thanks to the cooling system, and physical buttons. If you play for hours every day or compete in tournaments, it’s worth the investment. If you mainly play for half an hour whilst out and about, a standard device from our list of high-end smartphones is a wiser choice.
Choose an ROG Phone if you play competitively for hours on end and actually make use of the shoulder buttons and cooling system.
Choose a standard flagship if you mainly play casually and want a lighter, more discreet device with a better camera.
What you’re compromising on
A gaming phone requires compromises that have an impact for the rest of the day.
- Weight and size: an ROG Phone weighs around 225 grams and is thick, as the cooling system and large battery need space. This is noticeable in a trouser pocket or in a small hand.
- Price: you’re paying flagship prices for features you’ll only use in games.
- Appearance: the illuminated logo and gamer-style design on the back aren’t to everyone’s taste. There’s no understated version.
- Camera: the camera is fine, but for the same price you can buy a handset that takes significantly better photos. See camera phones.
Asus has not released any new ROG Phones
The ROG Phone 9 series from November 2024 is the latest generation for the time being. In January 2026, Asus confirmed that no new phones would be released that year, and CEO Jonney Shih said shortly afterwards that the company would no longer be adding new phone models. So, there has been no ROG Phone 10. Asus states that software updates and warranty cover for existing devices will continue. Bear in mind, however, that accessories such as the cooler and cases will eventually become harder to come by, and that the trade-in value will be lower than for a brand that releases a successor model every year.
