Nokia 7.1 product description
We all want a phone made of premium materials such as glass and metal, large screen with small screen edges, a good camera that will be updated for a long time. And not too expensive if possible. The Nokia 7.1 seems to make that impossible request possible. We are going to find out if they have succeeded.
Android One: Android in its purest form
Of course you know Nokia from the old days. Of those indestructible phones you couldn't run apps on. Nokia is back, but completely different. It has embraced Android and uses the purest form; Android One. Not only will you receive security updates every month, you will also receive the Android update to 9.0 Pie and Android Q; guaranteed. Another advantage of the Android One programme is that you can store unlimited photos and videos. In the cloud. That's convenient because you'll have an instant backup of your most precious moments. You also have Google Assistant at your disposal; your personal assistant who you can put to work by voice. Android One's simple character means it comes with no unnecessary apps. No bloatware with advertizements that unnecessarily pollute and slow down your device.

Dual camera with HDR mode
The Nokia 7.1 has a somewhat recognisable jacket. The PureDisplay screen has a notch at the top and the back is made of glass. That reminds us of an iPhone. However, the notch on this 7.1 is significantly smaller. The screen measures a diagonal of 5.84 inches with a sharp Full HD+ resolution and protected by sturdy Gorilla Glass. The camera in the notch has an 8 megapixel sensor and a lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.0. This means that the sensor still receives enough light even in the dark for well-exposed selfies. This is also necessary because a selfie flash is missing. On the back we find a 12 and 5 megapixel camera with Zeiss lens. Because of the double camera, the Nokia 7.1 can recognise depth, which gives you beautiful photos with background blur (bokeh). Nokia also delivers a fairly extensive HDR mode, which makes the exposure more even. If you prefer to control all settings yourself, then there is the Pro UI camera mode where you can set things like ISO, white balance, ISO and shutter speed yourself.
Main Nokia 7.1 specifications
- 5.84 inch PureDisplay with Full HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 3
- 12 + 5-megapixel rear camera for field of depth effects + HDR mode
- 8 megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 lens
- 4G support for mobile Internet (LTE Cat.6)
- Powerful Qualcomm processor (Snapdragon 636) up to 1.8 GHz with 3 GB of RAM memory
- Dual SIM capability (slot shared with memory expansion slot)
- 32GB of storage memory (expandable up to 400GB)
32 GB storage is not problematic
The Nokia 7.1 is a real mid-range car and we notice that in its processor. That's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which is powerful enough for average use and even a bit more. So you can also play great games with it and even AR functions are possible. Altho a model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage has been released, only the version with 3 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of storage is available. That's a bit cramped but it doesn't have to be a big problem. For example, your photos are still stored in the cloud and are not necessarily stored on your device. What's more, you can add up to 400GB of memory. That should be more than enough for all your photos, videos, music and files.
