Samsung Galaxy Fit models

The Samsung Galaxy Fit is Samsung’s affordable fitness tracker: a slim, lightweight wristband that tracks your steps, heart rate, sleep and workouts, and lasts for days on a single charge. It sits below the Galaxy Watch series and is aimed at those who want to exercise and track their progress without the cost, weight and daily charging of a full-featured smartwatch. Filter by colour, price or features and find the Galaxy Fit that’s right for you straight away.

Help with choosing a Samsung Galaxy Fit

You should choose a Galaxy Fit if you mainly want to track your health and exercise, without any hassle. It is specifically a fitness tracker and not a fully-fledged smartwatch: you’ll receive notifications on your wrist and can control your music, but you won’t be able to install apps or make calls on its own. That limitation is precisely its strength, because fewer features mean much longer battery life and a lower price. Read on to find out what to look out for.

Fitness tracker or a smartwatch after all?

The most important question isn’t which Fit to choose, but whether a Fit is right for you. If you’re unsure, weigh up these two aspects.

What should you look out for with a Galaxy Fit?

A few points will determine whether a Fit suits your exercise routine:

  • Monitoring features: heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen), sleep tracking and over a hundred sport modes are all standard. If you practise a specific sport, check whether it’s included.
  • Battery life: according to Samsung, up to around thirteen days with the always-on display off, and around three to four days if you keep that display on continuously. This is a big difference compared to the daily charging required for a smartwatch.
  • Built-in GPS: the current Fit doesn’t have this. For an accurate running route, you’ll need to rely on your phone’s GPS, so you’ll need to take your phone with you whilst exercising.
  • Phone compatibility: the Galaxy Fit only works with Android phones, not with an iPhone. If you have an iPhone, you’ll need to look at a different type of tracker.

Waiting for a new generation?

The Galaxy Fit 3 is the current model and Samsung hasn’t announced a successor, so there’s no need to gamble on a launch date that’s still up in the air. If you’re mainly missing the built-in GPS – the most commonly cited shortcoming of this series – then look straight away for a model that does have it. If a new generation does come out, the price of the previous model usually drops, so even then this model remains worth considering. Not yet convinced by Samsung? Feel free to compare it with other fitness trackers before you make your choice.
