This technique uses the same network as GSM (and with that GPRS), but it uses a different modulation technique (8PSK) that makes higher speeds possible. Sometimes this is called 2.5G (2G is the standard for GSM, and 3G is UMTS). With EDGE speeds up to 384 kbps (1.000 bits each second) should theoretically be possible, but this will probably be lower. The sending of a MP3 document of 4MB could last for almost one and a half minute.
