Motorola Moto G52 product details

The Motorola Moto G52 seems like the ideal choice for those who want a large smooth OLED screen, a triple camera with 50MP and stereo speakers. But is that really the case or are there better options to be found for this amount of money? We checked it out for you

OLED vs LCD

Those who want a somewhat affordable smartphone soon end up with an LCD screen. While OLED is more beautiful. What do we mean by that? The image of a screen is composed of many small pixels. In the case of an LCD panel, these do not emit light of their own accord. You need backlighting to get an image. The result is a somewhat washed out image, pale even, with little contrast. So black is never really black. OLED does not have this problem. There, the pixels do emit light and the backlight is not needed. The result is deeper blacks and livelier colors. On the G52 you will find an OLED screen, no less than 6.6 inches in size, and with a high 90Hz refresh rate for smooth viewing.

50MP camera system with Quad Pixel

On the screen of the Moto G52, for example, you show photos shot with the 50MP main rear camera. Equipped with Quad Pixel technology, this camera shoots great exposed images in both day and night. If you want to capture more in one image, then switch to the 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. You can get closer with the 2MP macro camera, although due to its low resolution it does not produce very sharp results. Zooming is only possible digitally, as there is no optical zoom. The G52 can shoot video at a maximum of 1080p, also known as Full HD. The selfie camera at the front is subtly integrated into the screen and is equipped with a large 16MP sensor. More than enough for razor-sharp self-portraits

Water-repellent coating

This Moto G52 features a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. With this, expect matching performance as well. There is 4GB of RAM memory which is now a bit on the low side. The storage memory comes out to a neat 128GB and is also expandable up to 1TB via a microSD memory card. The battery has a capacity of 5000mAh and can be quickly charged with 30W. But only wired because it cannot charge wirelessly. Lenovo has finished the whole thing in a water-repellent coating. This makes the G52 IP52 water and dust resistant. Full immersion is not possible, but a splash here and there is no problem.

Budget-friendly Motorola Moto G52 announced

Phone news ·

Lenovo has just announced the budget-friendly Moto G52. This Motorola smartphone is equipped with a 50MP camera on the back and a 6.6-inch large 90Hz screen on the front. 5G support is missing, however.

In terms of naming, this Motorola Moto G52 looks like the successor to the G51 but that was a 5G phone and this G52 is not. What it is is a price-conscious multimedia phone. Partly thanks to its colorful OLED screen, stereo speakers and long lasting battery life.

Not only is the 6.6-inch display very large, it's also sharp thanks to its FHD+ resolution and smooth thanks to the 90Hz playback. The fact that this is an OLED panel is a bonus. This technology is known for its colorful display and excellent outdoor readability. On the back of the G52 we find a 50MP main camera with Macro Vision for extreme close-ups. You will also find an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front is a 16MP selfie camera.

Moto G52 price and availability

Inside, Lenovo fits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor with 4 or 6GB of RAM memory and with 128 or 256GB of storage respectively. The battery is on the generous side at 5000 mAh and can be charged quickly at 30W. There is also a 33W fast charger in the box so you can get started right away. Expect the Moto G52 to hit stores in mid-May in Charcoal Gray, Glacier Blue and Porcelain White colors. The recommended retail price is €249.99.
