Thinking of buying a Garmin vívoactive? Compare all models and prices (2026)

Are you looking for a Garmin vívoactive? This is Garmin’s affordable all-rounder and, for many people, the logical first step into the brand: a lightweight smartwatch with an AMOLED screen, sports and sleep tracking, and a battery that’ll last you well over a week. It’s not a specialist sports watch, but it covers everything you need for everyday use. We compare the current prices across all retailers, 100% independently. Use the filters for colour, battery life and price, or browse the full range of Garmin smartwatches first.

What should you look out for when buying a Garmin vívoactive?

The vívoactive is the cheapest way to get started with Garmin, and for most people, the most sensible choice too. You get the full Garmin Connect experience with step tracking, sleep monitoring, stress tracking and dozens of sport profiles, without the extra cost of the specialist ranges. The current model is the vívoactive 6. You can see what’s currently available and the best price in the overview above.

What you get

  • AMOLED display: 1.2 inches with 390 by 390 pixels, so sharp and colourful. It comes in one size: a 42 mm case.
  • Over a week’s battery life: up to 11 days in watch mode, whereas most Apple and Samsung smartwatches need to be charged daily.
  • 36 grams: Light enough to sleep in at night, which is essential for sleep and recovery tracking.
  • Sport and everyday use: running, cycling, swimming and strength training, plus nap detection, a smart alarm, pacing plans and route tracking.

The honest downside

In a few respects, you’ll notice that this is the entry-level model. The vívoactive 6 doesn’t have dual-band GPS, so your route may deviate slightly when you’re amongst tall buildings or under dense foliage. It uses the older Elevate 4 heart rate sensor instead of the latest generation, lacks Garmin’s Training Readiness score and has no microphone or voice assistant. The screen bezel is also quite thick and it comes in only one size. For everyday exercise and health tracking, that’s perfectly fine; but if you’re training specifically for a competition, you’ll find it falls short.

vívoactive, Venu or Forerunner?

All three run on the same Garmin software; the difference lies in price and focus.

Garmin, Apple or Samsung?

Garmin wins on battery life and sports data, but loses out on smart features. A vívoactive lasts well over a week on a single charge, tracks more comprehensively during exercise and works with both iPhones and Android phones. An Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch, on the other hand, has far more apps, lets you make calls from your wrist and integrates more seamlessly with your phone. If you’re mainly looking for an affordable activity tracker without any smartwatch features, take a look at the fitness trackers.

Garmin’s other ranges

  • Venu: the lifestyle watch, more expensive and with an emphasis on design and the display.
  • Forerunner: the running range, from entry-level models to triathlon watches.
  • Instinct: the rugged outdoor range with very long battery life and solar charging.
  • fenix: the top-of-the-range multisport model with a metal case and built-in maps.
